GONAGRA.

DARK DRONE AMBIENT · NOISE MUSIC

Slowly evolving layers. Deep, monotonous drones. Distant signals, gradually losing their origin and significance.

GONAGRA × SKALLE

Sound and moving image

Music: GONAGRA · Visuals: Gábor Skultéti (Skalle)

An audiovisual collaboration in which Gábor Skultéti (Skalle) created an independent visual world around a GONAGRA sound composition. Two artistic perspectives meet at the intersection of sound and image.

Creator's note by Gábor Skultéti (Skalle)

Eversince I was a child, I was always interested in the cosmos. Knowing that there is a vast universe over our horizons, distances that we could never traverse even by going at the speed of light, brings shiver down my spine. There are stellar objects in the dark, so huge and/or dense that they break the laws of physics, bending the light in their proximity while absorbing every matter. Such object is a black hole, which acts by the rules mentioned above. Visualizing it is a difficult task, since we do not know their actual appearance, but we can estimate.

In this piece you are an astronaut, flying way too close proximity to the black hole, while experiencing the doppler effect. In 3D rendering it's possible to bend the light with close accuracy to visualize gravitational lensing. If you look close enough, you can see the whole universe behind the black hole.

03 / THE ARTIST

Behind the sound.

Tamás Molnár, known by the artist name Gonagra, is a Hungarian musician whose experimental electronic music project explores the boundaries of dark ambient, drone music and atmospheric noise.

The compositions are built around slowly evolving layers of sound, deep-frequency drones, analogue experimentation and field recordings. Sounds captured from natural and industrial environments merge with synthetic textures, gradually losing their original context.

Rather than following conventional melodic or rhythmic structures, GONAGRA focuses on the inner movement of sound, subtle details, gradual transformation and the tension between sound and silence. Darkness is not treated as an aesthetic end in itself, but as a means of exploring attention, isolation and different layers of inner experience.

Alongside independent releases, GONAGRA is open to musical and audiovisual collaboration. The project is connected to Confluxus Mentium, a creative collective exploring the intersections of sound, image and experimental practice.
